Recap Enterprise Connect hybrid work trends, generative AI
The rise in generative AI in the enterprise communications world is changing how organizations can make collaboration more accessible and productive to ultimately create a more positive environment for employee experience.
Industry analysts Irwin Lazar, president and principal analyst at Metrigy; Beth Schultz, vice president and principal analyst at Metrigy; and David Maldow, founder of Let's Do Video, discussed the evolution of unified communications (UC) and collaboration technology at Enterprise Connect 2023 and what hybrid work trends should be on IT buyers' radars as they plan their UC and contact center strategies.
The four-day Enterprise Connect conference focused on the latest in UC, collaboration and contact center technology. A hybrid conference, the expo opened with topics on just that -- the hybrid workplace -- as well as the latest in AI technology. The conference featured keynote speakers from Microsoft, Cisco, RingCentral, Zoom, Google Cloud and AWS.
Generative AI was the highlight of the conference, with vendors demonstrating the different ways to use the technology in the workplace. Lazar discussed the demo of Microsoft 365 Copilot in Teams, for example, that showed how the generative AI-based service created meeting transcripts, notes and action items and was also able to analyze the sentiment of the meeting.
Additionally, with hybrid work becoming the new norm, companies such as Microsoft and Cisco are finding ways to keep employees engaged and productive in the workplace, no matter where everyone is working from. Schultz noted that IT buyers should pay attention to what they can do with the collaboration data available from their vendors as a way to create a more proactive environment among employees and increase productivity.
